| Video Discription | A 46-year-old Booth Level Officer (BLO), Sarvesh Singh, allegedly died by suicide in Uttar Pradesh due to extreme work pressure during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. This was his first election duty, and before taking the step, he recorded an emotional video saying he was exhausted and unable to complete the overwhelming workload. Across India, at least 25–30 BLOs have reportedly died or attempted suicide during the ongoing SIR process in states including Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. With BLOs required to visit thousands of households for verification and documentation under tight deadlines, many have complained of unbearable stress and inadequate support. Following these incidents, the Election Commission has extended deadlines, initiated counselling, and promised assistance for field staff.
