| Video Discription | Ear Keloid Scars Treatment With Surgery : Keloid scars are thick, puckered, itchy clusters of scar tissue which grow beyond the edges of the original wound or incision. They are often red or darker in color than the surrounding skin. Keloids can appear anywhere on the body, but most common over the centre of chest, on the earlobes, back and on the shoulders. We have extensive experience with keloids removal surgery with rather low rates of recurrence. Keloids are often treated by injecting a combinations of triamcinolone & 5 Flurouracil directly into the scar tissue to reduce redness, itching, and burning. In some cases, this will also shrink the scar. This treatment is repeated several times with intervals of 3- 4 weeks in between treatments. If steroid treatment is inadequate, in some selected cases the scar tissue can be cut out and the wound closed with layers of stitches. A skin graft may be is used in some cases. We plastic surgeons at #BembdeHospital use following modalities in combinations for treating hypertrophic scars: Compression garment Silicon gel sheets Intralesional injections of combinations of triamcinolone & 5 Flurouracil .
