| Video Discription | While deaths due to rabies and the large number of dog bite cases are serious problems, one aspect of the stray dog problem mostly goes unnoticed. That how strays have taken over neighbourhood areas that should have ideally been used by our children to play. Now, this is an aspect of the stray dogs problem that is usually not appreciated. Children that grow up in restricted urban spaces, be it slums, urban mohallas or even modern residential societies, have really little space to play. And yet, stray dogs capture a large portion of that area, because parents usually won’t allow their children to play in areas infested by stray dogs. This is as true of slums as it is for more cleaner areas or even sprawling residential societies. And a large number of children end up being bitten by strays when they do venture out, especially when they are alone. So, what is the solution. For starters, stray dogs are mostly an urban problem, and it is the urban bodies like the municipalities that should form the policy to deal with strays. At the Central govt level too, one could have an all encompassing legislation.
